People at Work is closing. Here are your options.

People at Work — the free, regulator-supported, validated Australian psychosocial risk assessment survey — is being decommissioned. The published dates are:

• 1 June 2026 — final date to register a new account
• 1 July 2026 — final date to launch a new survey
• 2 October 2026 — platform access ends; export your reports before this date

If you have historical reports in the platform, export them now. That is the genuinely urgent part, and it has nothing to do with buying anything.

The free options regulators still point to

We would rather you knew about these than found out later. Comcare and WorkSafe Victoria both direct employers to free psychosocial assessment tools, including:

• APHIRM Toolkit (La Trobe University) — free, online, with industry benchmarking.
• COPSOQ III — the internationally validated Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire.
• WorkSafe Queensland's risk assessment tool — a free downloadable worksheet aligned to the Queensland code.

If an annual, point-in-time assessment is all you need, one of these may genuinely be the right answer for you.

Where a platform like ours adds something

The honest case for paying for something is not compliance — it is what happens after the survey.

• Ongoing rather than annual. A short recurring pulse shows whether a control actually worked. An annual snapshot reports on a workplace that has already changed.
• One survey instead of two. Most organisations run an engagement survey and a psychosocial assessment separately, asking staff to complete two surveys. Ours covers both.
• Action, not just a report. Results come with recommended next steps for managers, at team level.
• An accumulating record. What you identified, when you consulted, what you changed, and when you reviewed it — building over time rather than restarting each year.

Being straight about the law

Nothing about the People at Work shutdown creates a new legal obligation. Your duties to identify psychosocial hazards and consult workers are unchanged — the free tool you may have used to discharge them is simply going away. No commercial product is an official replacement, and no regulator endorses one.
